All this talk about whether the Amish will ever choose to go into space or not is all pretty interesting... but I don't know how related it is to the Aptera.
The way I see it is the Aptera seems to be on track for the one of the most efficient vehicles available for purchase. But it seems debatable how true that is. Or at least debatable if it's worth what you lose to get that level of efficiency.
I see where short, boxy cars make sense, especially in the city. But short and boxy is hard to make aerodynamic.
To get an ultra-aerodynamic shaped it needs to be long and thin. The Aptera seems to fit that description pretty well for what's basically a motorcycle. How long would a 4 door version have to be to have the same overall aerodynamic coefficient? As a former school bus driver I wouldn't mind a 30' (or longer) car that much, especially on the open highway. In town such a car might be a bit of a pain to drive though.
I wonder if there'd be a way to include an extendable tail on larger future versions of the Aptera so you could retract the tail for parking.
