I was watching this and thinking about
laser-cut sheet aluminium!
Suppose this repetitive pattern was produced in 1/16th inch aluminum. One could make a few square yards and drape it over a light form and
fiberglass/solder/braze spot weld the inside. To make a Miata top or aerocap or boat tail.
