It's pretty difficult to standardize wood.
Best bet is wood pellets as they are ran through a pelletizer, where brute force forms wood pellets during which the wood heats up to the point where the lignin melts, which is above the boiling point of water and then its sealed in a plastic bag.
I use wood chips and round wood from my land to heat my house so I am kind of all over it.
If you want 20,000 btu per pound any rubber or plastic will provide that.
