For 60C rated house wire 10 gauge is normally ran on a 30 amp breaker. If the wire goes through a real hot area, such as through a metal conduit exposed to direct sun light or a hot attic down breaker it to 25 amps. Same thing with 12 gauge wire, it's normally ran on 20 amp breakers. A 12 gauge 20 amp circuit is all I use to charge my leaf.

If a house is wired to code an outdoor receptacle or a garage receptacle can be changed out to 240v one and then rewired to a 2 pole breaker but you better make sure all receptacles are changed over. That's the easiest cheapest way to get 240v power outside.
