The chance of all the lamps burning out together is not that slim actually, if they are from the same batch.
I owned a Civic for almost 12 years and its low beams kept failing within weeks of each other every 5 years or so. I kept a pair of spares since I once had to change the other headlight just one trip after replacing the first.
