Actually I always considered the fuel in Germany to be cheap: I lived at Kerkrade, next to the border with Herzogenrath and I almost exclusively filled up in Germany. Because the price difference with the Netherlands, used to be something like € 0,30 a litre for gasoline.

Since January this year, the German government however added a CO2 tax to the fuel of almost € 0,10 so every since tanking has gotten more expensive. But still cheaper than the Netherlands, and you can still get regular Super E5
