The on board guessometer is exactly that. The reality is these vehicles are full size, body on frame, pushrod V8, in my case 4wd, trucks.
Averaging 20mpg is pretty good for the technology from 15 years ago. The comparable denali/escalade with the 6.2l would be lucky to average 15mpg.
15 to 20 is a 33% reduction in fuel consumption.
