Volvo phasing out the ICE versions of the XC40 in Brazil

Due to an upcoming emission regulation which will start next year, instead of upgrading the canister of the plug-in hybrid which was the only powertrain with an ICE fitted to the XC40 since mid-2020, Volvo will only import its full-electric version. Doesn't seem to be a much smart move, as the XC40 is the best-seller of the local Volvo range, and the EV-only approach is not so suitable to Brazilian conditions. The price of a full-electric XC40 is nearly the same of a XC60 plug-in hybrid.
