I dunno, my mom in law changes stuff all the time because she wants a better default font size or volume, but ends up over in the configuration files changing globals. She THINKS she's a geek and always denies poking around. Her Roku is a case in point: it randomly eats remote batteries and she'll fiddle with everything else for 3 days before she calls in a very agitated state. Then I come over to reset stuff and change batteries. Could she just change the batteries first? Apparently not.

set up two step verification on critical accounts which slows down the un notified random changes, but doubles your interactions. In our case they can hack the credit union, but it's swept clean pretty often to keep the vulnerable funds low, everything else is squirreled away and notifies US of transactions.
