Another part of the problem is they use a password manager, which is just a tool that helps you forget what your passwords are.
I have 3 basic passwords. One is used for unimportant things like forum logins, and I wouldn't care if someone got that and then posted something using my account, or watched a Netflix show.
Then I have 2 more complex passwords used for medium and high importance things. 2 factor authentication and recovery avenues are critical for these accounts.
None of those 3 passwords are written down anywhere. I'll write down special case or frequently changing passwords, but that's about it.
