Tesla preconditioning

Yesterday, it was 28 F and the Tesla Model 3 preconditioning was set for sunrise, 6:45 AM. This is what the L2 EVSE (J1772) JuiceNet 40 Pro reported:

  • Initial charge into cold soaked battery was ~4 kWh, half normal.
  • After pause, the battery warm-up is followed by a short peak ~7.89 kW.
  • Then the cabin and seat warm-up starts.
  • Cabin warming ends about 15 minutes after the scheduled 6:45 AM, sunrise.

The total energy was 4.77 kWh, $0.57 ($0.12/kWh).
