Back into ecomodding

Hi there everyone! I’ve actually been a member here for about 14 years, but i haven’t been active in about a decade. When i first signed up here i was a poor college kid with a 4cyl ranger. After i got a good paying job i was less concerned about saving money on gas and i pretty much just used the fuel log to keep track of my mileage. So to get to my current situation, I’m now married with a mortgage and a step daughter, and saving every penny counts. My wife and i ordered a hybrid Ford maverick in October as our new family truckster, but it won’t be in until summer. The dealership told us they could give us $8k for her equinox (which she hated) which was also what we owed on it. We ended up selling it to Carmax for $13,000, which was $2000 more than she paid for it 4 years ago! We pocketed $5,000 but that left us a vehicle down. She works at the end of our street and only really drives to go grocery shopping once or twice a week. We figured the best option was for her to drive my Silverado 1500 and i go buy a “beater” that i could resell once the maverick comes in. Well i found myself a 2003 civic ex with a 5sp, that’s amazingly clean for being a car from the rust belt. The problem is that i absolutely love it, and it’s sucked me right back into ecomodding. My first tank was terrible- only 29mpg, but I’ve found myself doing things such as coasting downhill in neutral and early shifting, stuff i haven’t done for ten years or so. Also the car came with a full tank and i think it just had 87 in it. I filled it back up with 89 and it seems to have more miles in reference to the gas gauge compared to last tank, i guess I’ll find out next fill up. It also came with the dish hubcaps. I’m planning on an upper grill block, rear wheel skirts, and a small front air dam for now. Just incase i do decide to sell it, i want everything reversible. If i decide to keep it, I’d like to swap to a dx or lx transmission (for better gearing) and i could also delete the entire ac system and convert it to manual steering. Anyways, i hope the picture works. I’ll be sure to post more as i go. If i can get the car to 40mpg I’d be very happy.

Edit- i have no idea how to add a photo properly. The first one uploaded upside down, so i uploaded an already upside down photo thinking it would flip it back over and it did not. Can anyone help me with that?
