Soybeans are used with a nitrogen fixing bacteria. Yields aren't as high as with fertilizer, but due to the "hazmat" issue, recycled cow, pig, fowl byproducts aren't used like chinese night soil.
Hmm I should try using DEF as a fertilizer.
