The more porous the grille is, the more drag it will create. They probably gave it just enough porosity for cooling. Generally speaking, electric motors generate less waste heat than combustion engines. So they can get away with less cooling airflow.
Edit: I'm also curious about the wheels. They don't look like they'd be very aerodynamic.
