There's no moving parts, it's purely passive in design.
I'm pretty sure BEECHCRAFT did the same on the 'Doctor killer.' The exit ducts leaving the big Lycoming seemed to have undergone serious thinking.

The doctor killer cowl was an incremental process as opposed to mooneys got it right the first time
