Hopefully I caught you before you bolted the head on. A trick I learned about, then took to extremes, is to roughen the intake ports. I did Powre Lynz, shared my
Head Porting Book with David Vizard, and he took the idea and made it his own. I saw a close approximation of my design on a David Vizard head in Popular Hot Rodding about a year later.
My version puts what look like screw threads in the intake ports. Vizard used a small ball carbide bit on the CNC mill and ran a very coarse path, leaving "ocean waves" in the ports. Another person I exchanged ideas with used a large carbide bit on slow speed to get chatter. This made splays in the surface. It works magic!
