It's not the same as a performance-oriented water injection setup, but usually when there is a higher amount of moisture in the air I noticed a slightly better performance and also a discrete improvement to the fuel economy on port-injection gassers and direct-injection turbodiesels. Water seems to retain more heat from the compression and releasing it in a more homogeneous way through the combustion chamber, also decreasing the formation of NOx because the heat absorbed by the water won't react with OČ and NČ so easily.
