GAF is making solar panel roof tiles. Makes the whole roof a solar panel and uses replaceable panels. Doesn't mqke the house less hot, but does power the A/C nicely.
Trees take at least 10 years to provide proper shade even for ailanthus, empress,or Siberian elm
