The journalists which I've read have represented the Rivian pickup as kind of a 'boutique', 'up-market' styling accessory for the well-healed.
It's not intended for the F-150/RAM/ Silverado/Sierra/Tundra/Titan/ect, demographic.
It will 'do' what those trucks will do, and exceed their performance, however, it plays to a niche market willing to pay the premium for premium.
The Rivian has the aerodynamics of CYBERTRUCK. It would be a great canvas for aero mods and ridiculously long range.
