It's adding downforce that the heavy lardass of a car probably doesn't even need, given that its top speed is electronically limited to 161 mph. It has 606 horsepower on tap. That sort of top speed is awfully wasteful of 606 horsepower. I understand that its drive system's continuous power rating is a lot lower than its peak power, but if all you can hold is 161 mph, when the Opel Eco Speedster can reach that with only 112 horsepower on tap, variables that pertain to the efficiency of that Taycan are VERY wrong in spite of its relatively low drag coefficient(as far as production cars go). Vehicle weight, frontal area, and choice of tires are obviously piggish and very load-inducing on it. Which really ruins the point of a vehicle with a 0.22 Cd.

Porsche used to make delightfully svelte cars in the 1940s and 1950s. Especially the 550 Coupe. Modern Porsche supercars weigh as much as SUVs and are designed to accommodate morbidly obese operators/passengers, and there is no longer the focus on form follows function body design language that Porsche pioneered in the early post-WWII era. Today, it's all about offering feature-laden, fat-margined, disposable, overly-flashy, difficult-to-repair succubi designed to drain your wallet. The company has lost what it once was, unfortunately. And it shows, especially when you consider what the earliest Porsche sports cars and their parts are selling for these days.

Lots of companies have made 550 Spyder kit car replicas for sale, but has anyone ever made a 550 Coupe? I've never found one. A 550 Coupe has more than 30% less drag than the 550 Spyder. The 550 Spyder could do 140 mph on 110 horsepower. Jack Rickard's electric Spyder used about 180 Wh/mile. The 550 Coupe is significantly more efficient. That 550 Coupe would make an EXCELLENT shape for a highly fuel efficient go-fast machine, especially with the EV technology we have these days. Instead, we get bulky lardasses that need to haul around tons of batteries in order to get acceptable range. Instead of deliciously light sports cars, Porsche now makes SUVs and crossovers.

Porsche has been defiling its own legacy for decades. Wish it would honor it with something like what it used to build, but with modern technology.
