Problem is its 5 parsecs away. It may have flared more and we wouldn't know it.

On our Sun, the parent sunspot which created the initial flare can go on producing lesser flares for 'several' days.
If the spot remains visible within the 27-day Carrington rotational period, observers will just continue to monitor it until it finally rotates out of sight.
We have solar observatories scattered all around Earth, and the Sun is always under continuous watch, recording, and archiving.
And a number of space-based observatories, looking at all frequencies.
Warnings are better than ever. Industries most affected have advance information with which to protect their assets ( tornado sirens for space weather ).
