My uncle, a certified master mechanic, told me not to worry about the almost $8,000 in repairs the dealership claimed that I needed.
He also told me to cure the paint on my oil pan in the oven. Mom was out of the room and I asked "Are you trying to get me killed?!" but Mom yelled at me that my pan was mostly full of water.
I don't know how much rain we were supposed to receive, but it was only predicted to sprinkle.
My pan had less than an inch in it.
There couldn't have been more, there is a drain in it!
However, I didn't paint the drain, and it was rusting, so I told Mom that I needed to dry it, and broiled it, which I tried before, but Mom always does that with the door venting.
I did it with the door closed and my laser thermometer said it was less than 350° after 30 minutes!
The oven supposedly reaches 550°, while the instructions say 600°, but I really don't feel like trying to max out the oven a third time.
I frocked it and after two hours I will clean it out.
Hopefully that will remove any harmful fumes!
I ordered spark plugs, cleaners, and stuff from whoever sold the OEM products for the best price with shipping, usually Amazon and eBay, although I will be picking up throttle body and intake cleaner, mass airflow sensor cleaner, and Chevron Techron fuel injector treatment tomorrow from Walmart.
I will also have them change my oil.
They charge $1.08 more than a jug of oil and filter would cost.
I will check my power steering, motor mounts, left half shaft, and front control arm, as well as the other fluids.
My total so far is $126, while the useless lying inspection cost $170.
