As it turns out, plant photosynthesis is only 3-6% efficient. It's a two-step process, polluted by atmospheric Oxygen. Both steps can be artificially engineered.
So all those futuristic vertical farms can be subterranian. Cyborg bacteria can substitute for photovoltaic panels. Or nuclear power. The moons of Saturn are within our reach.
