We have a geothermal area in some parts of Reno and I see houses for sale that have it installed. I understand I just need to drill down about 600ft to get it, or so I have been told. MAYBE $50k for the bore hole.

So in effect if you have thermal springs you can do geo without Armageddon. Random drilling deep wells could cause you concern, but surface thermal is somewhat common in the mountainous SW USA.
