I've only worked with fiberglass enough to get glass needles embedded in my skin. Then I stopped.
What I do know is with a male mold there's a lot of surface finishing. With a female mold there is a lot of mold finishing.
Polymetal, et al, has a finished surface but is only good for simple curves.
I hear that you can get a gloss finish on fiberglass by covering it with Mylar, sqeegeeing resin out under it and then peeling the Mylar off.
For compound curves you could cut sections out of junkyard fenders and then use panel adhesive to glue them together with a lap seam. Bondo and paint.
