Some people only joined the forum because politics dictate aspects such as fuel prices, emission regulations and overall fuel-efficiency targets.

Back on topic: a French company now owns the coal-fueled powerplant I went on a tour 23 years ago, and around 2 years ago there were rumors it would be decomissioned. Well, there is a cement factory right across the street (actually one of the most important Brazilian roadways) which uses heavy ashes from that powerplant as a feedstock. Not to mention Germany had to recomission its coal-fueled powerplants due to the political tensions between the EU and Russia due to the war in Ukraine, since most of the natural gas consumed in Western Europe was imported from Russia.
