Not all rubber feet are the same. You need soft, squishy feet. The feet need to be large and soft enough that they noticeably deflect under the weight of the generator. The best vibration isolation will be with feet that deflect 1/2" under the weight of the generator, but feet that deflect 1/8" should get the job done. The hard rubber feet in the local hardware store are useless in this application.

The number of feet does not matter. What does matter is that the feet are located so that each one of them deflects about the same. Three feet is the minimum, and there is no maximum. I once designed a vibration isolation system for a vibrating machine that had six rubber isolation mounts.

A good source for rubber mounts is McMaster-Carr: https://www.mcmaster.com/products/isolation-mounts/.
