I stumbled across this site while doing some research on how to get better mileage out of my little pickup. I've got a '96 Raner 2WD 5sp and I've been getting around 17-18 MPG city and about 22 highway; overall, I get around 20. I bought the Ranger for commuting purposes as my '06 Xterra isn't exactly great on gas (heavily modified). I also use it to haul my motorcycle, which I usually use to commute on decent days.
Going through a lot of the articles on here I've gotten pretty excited to get started and see what I can get for mileage out of it. I think I'll set my goal at 35 MPG and see how I can do. Fueleconomy.gov rates my truck at 21 MPG combined which I'm not to far from, suprisingly, but I believe I can get a lot more out of it. I've got a scangauge II that I've got mounted in my Xterra that I'm going to move over into the Ranger (just bought another cord for it)
Anyway, glad to be here and thanks for the great info!
