There are those who align themselves with reality, and there are those who distort reality to align with their agenda.
When a parent testifies against their child, you can take that to the bank because they have a strong incentive to advocate for them. I love technological progress, and was completely enthralled by photovoltaics back when you could buy a 1cm x 2cm cell for $8 (and that was all the money I had). There is only motive for me to advocate for better technology, and zero motive for me to be antagonistic towards it.
I'm the parent testifying against the child, and politicians and executives in monopolistic utilities are the motivated liars and crooks.

As always, I'm willing to be wrong, but zero people will argue against what I've said because there are no believable arguments. "Yeah, but still" is about the strongest counter, and that's good enough for many, many people.
