Re-introduction Tesla + BMW

Hi,

A former Prius owner, I gained a lot of insights back then. But now I'm EV and PHEV:
  • 2019 Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus - bought new, now 115,000 mi with Autopilot+Full Self Driving.
  • 2017 BMW i3-REx - bought used, now 59,000 mi, 106 mi EV and 88 mi gas.
My Tesla battery has aged as expected down to ~48 kWh (215 mi) from 55 kWh (240 mi.) I've already gone with lighter wheels and 60 k mile, 51 psi tires. Also, a home made, external, silvered bubble wrap sun screen.

The recently bought, $15,000, 2017 BMW i3-REx has ~27 kWh (106 mi) from 28.3 kWh (116 mi.) No mods yet but some gnarly plans.

Both cars will get some aerodynamic tweaks like fully enclose hub caps. Both passenger seats will be remounted or replaced to become fully reclining for "motel" mode. Each has a 2" receiver hitch so a wireless, trailer light kit and light weight trailer is planned for 'pickup mode.'

So I'm back, post-Prius, and very EV happy. With any luck, I'll be able to share 'lessons learned' as the adventure continues.

Bob Wilson
