Please forgive if these were already mentioned. I believe I read all the posts and didn't see this.
One, there are many aftermarket A/C units that for me are too expensive. 12-24v evaporative units (only good in dry climes) and 12-24v freon type mini-spits that could run on extra batteries and plug-in charged.
Two, something that may not be feasable, is to run a simple air compressor and enjoy the cool of de-compressed air. It would also give back-up inflating. I know there are complication like a condensor and water reducer and the potential for breathing some oil fumes. I remember, back in my mis-spent youth pumping gas in the summer, we'd go to the station's air hose and inflate our coveralls with air. Instant short-term relief. And, yet, I know we were exchanging cool for electricity and heat in the airpump room yet it was almost life saving. And, if such a simple system were installed in a vehicle, maybe even wearing big ole coveralls over a clothing would be great. Not very fuel efficient I'm sure yet I mostly just need A/C when I'm stopped at the light and the compressor is barely turning. If I'm moving along, I'd only need to run the compression on 10 or 12 hottest days of summer or when I have to wear a suit and tie for business.
Anyway, I'm especially interested in the compressed air idea. Seems better, belt-driven with and electric clutch yet in might work just additional battery powered and re-charge plug-in style.
Also, many local stores and shop-lifting malls are giving away free charging and few seem used, maybe I could charge up while shopping too.
Any thoughts would be appreciated--even the flaming one, thanks, Mark
