I realize that four patches of hot rubber are the control surfaces I have to work with. Tread pattern, compound hardness, tire pressure is what I look at. I allow a three second interval between cars. If you drive mostly limited access roads low rolling resistance tires are worth considering. The curves are less sharp and there is more run off room to avoid a collision. Yes I drive the speed limit when the road is dry, less in the rain or show. Accidents waste time.
