Decided to log multiple sensors on today's trip. Below is a scatter chart representing the fuel consumption vs the ignition timing. From what I have read, a higher ignition timing usually translates into better fuel economy. As per the chart, that assumption seems to hold true.

Notice the two parallel oblique bands and the somewhat dead zone between them. What seems to be going on there ?

My hypothesis is that the lower band was driving at lower speeds (±45 mph) for a brief period of time. Most of the trip was averaging 60 mph.
