Back in the day playing carpenter: standard cookie cutter house with end gable roof had many standard sizes and if built properly, not much waste materials as the falls were used somewhere else like for blocking. Had to think what you were doing, not just cut and nail.
Speedo carpenter had huge waste piles.
Windows in subdivisions were generally 36 x 50 except for the living room, doors standard 30-36 x 81

IIRC, hard to project stuff on the walls back in the early '60s
