Not sure I can give that statement a big thumbs up, I will concede a splitters side effect might be less drag. Another side effect may be less dirt/bug accumulation on the chassis. A true splitter's main objective in my world is first and foremost increased down force.
Same for a true rear spoiler, and why it originally and always has been called a "spoiler".
