Great... now that we agree on a thing, people will call me a boot-licker.

Interesting how most differences in opinion distill down into how far out on the time horizon to set our gaze.

The climate catastrophists would say we need to sacrifice now to prevent suffering in the future. It's a medium-term focus looking at the next couple hundred years.

Putin's time horizon is millennia, where what's sacrificed is living with the consequences of our actions until mastering them and advancing human capability in the process.

Many (most?) catastrophists have an idealized conception of primitive hunter/gatherer societies and believe humanity should have no impact on nature. They believe tribal living was the pinnacle of humanity, and where it should return to.

It's looking like I'll be making a Boise drive tomorrow, so I'll queue up some interesting things to listen to.
