Remember also that max power in a diesel is generally lower than max rpm by a lot, perhaps 1/2 or more. These are engines that max at 2000 rpm, give or take. Was in a russian built bus in Gdansk and the tach was redlining at 1900 and it was upshifiting at 1400- 1500
