Listening to Autoline After Hours, they are saying that prototyping has largely shifted to simulation, whereas before there would be hundreds of physical prototypes to test the many different design variations of a thing.
Reminded me of how Jordan Peterson conceives of the imagination and predictive power of the mind. He says that we play out scenarios in our minds so that the bad ideas can die rather than playing them out in real life, and suffering the consequences. Our minds are uniquely capable of running simulations to optimize behavior.
