I always taken by the fact that in a dream you can turn around and look down a street and all the buildings are there, right down to the flower pots on the windowsills. It's much like AI hallucinations.
It's much deeper than you propose. Quantum Mechanics has dissolved particles into waves of information fields. It's a weird world where the future changes the past. I recommend:
Space Time and Beyond, by Bob Toben and Fred Alan Wolf. I bought and read it in [apparently] 1983. Sarfatti has just resurfaced with a new presentation.
His explanation on an iPad is not nearly as good as Bob Toben's cartoons.
