Inspiron is the lowest tier of their lowest class of laptop; the consumer tier.

In 2020 on Black Friday, I bought a $280 HP laptop with the latest Intel i5 processor, knowing that such a cheap PC wasn't going to last long. It stopped POSTing a month ago, which is fine because I expected it to be unusable in 3-4 years.

This Black Friday I spent $650 on the latest Intel laptop (Quicksync needed), so I expect it to last around 5 years.

The trade-off is always durability and price. You can spend a little money more frequently and always have relatively new tech, or you can spend more money for something that is more durable and accept obsolescence. My wife's ThinkPad X1 Carbon turned 10 this year, but I paid something like $1,200 on sale for it. When I'm spending $10k every 3 months on my wife's medical program, I can't have unreliable equipment sabotaging things.

Dell's Vostro line used to be their entry level business laptop, which was much more durable than Inspiron, but then it cost a little more too.

Every brand of laptop offers various price points for performance and durability.

My wife and I are taking a Waymo to the airport in a little over 4 hours
Curious how that experience goes.
