You might want to be more specific. The VW Beetle is considered one of the most pragmatic industrial designs ever to come from the mind of man.
Painful simplicity included draining the spare tire of air pressure to operate the windshield washer fluid sprayers.
The battery location is another example of being "too simple" to be practical.
