I'll give this a listen...

As a tangent, efficiency improvements remind me of Jevons Paradox; that utilizing a resource more efficiently increases consumption.

The main reason an EV is a viable vehicle option is because it's 90% efficient while a petrol one is ~25%. If petrol vehicles were 50% efficient, far fewer people would be interested in an EV. This is an example of how Jevons Paradox works.
