Dedicated operating system for Raspberry Pi
Raspberry Pi OS is a Unix-like operating system based on the Debian Linux distribution for the Raspberry Pi family of compact single-board computers. Raspbian was developed independently in 2012, became the primary operating system for these boards since 2013, was originally optimized for the Raspberry Pi 1 and distributed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. In 2020, the Raspberry Pi Foundation renamed Raspbian to Raspberry Pi OS. Wikipedia
I haven't tried this but I see that it's there:

Raspberry Pi Desktop for PC and Mac. Debian with Raspberry Pi Desktop is our operating system for PC and Mac. It provides the Raspberry Pi OS desktop, as well as most of the recommended software that comes with Raspberry Pi OS, for any PC or Apple Mac computer. Download Raspberry Pi Desktop
Since it's just a flavor of Linux, you can click the link and download it to run on a Windows or Mac [laptop] and see what it's like.

On a Pi you can just edit the Config file and overclock it.

I might download htis and try it on the old $75 iMac.
