I saw this recently too, but still coming to terms with it.

The face-lifted 2021-2024 Jaguar F-Type (awd) is on my wish list should some idiot total my G37X Infiniti coupe (awd).

I consider the F-Type one of the most beautiful and yet affordable cars ever made.

Why the heck couldn't they remain on that path?

If I were to consider the Type 00 concept as an additional model, a choice and not an ultimatum perhaps I could eventually embrace it despite being more of a small car guy and not an over the top status symbol type of person.

Of interest, someone did an illustration of a Tesla Cybertruck with Type 00 front and rear textures pasted over them. It at least gave the Tesla some character other than Killbot.

EDIT:

Type 00 might be aerodynamic, but is it appealing?

We know that aerodynamics don't sell, so perhaps this is a brilliant design that echos long hooded powerful cars of the past. We will have to see what history decides.

Very Long Hoods
Donald Pittenger

Quote:
Once upon a time, stylists such as General Motors' Harley Earl favored long, high hoods on their designs because this suggested that a car was powerful. This line of thought was based on the fact that many 1930-vintage luxury cars had large, powerful straight-eight, V-12 and V-16 motors that required long hoods.

As might be expected, 1930-vintage automobile company managers and designers fell to the temptation of gilding the long-hood lily. The present post deals with some examples extra-long -- needlessly long? -- hoods and concludes with thoughts regarding why long hoods are seldom, if ever, found on production cars today.
