Thanks Denis,

In SW BC Canada the temp never gets that low.

I am aiming at 50+ MPG without too many modifications.

Curently I have,

Replaced the spark plug leads.

Replaced the spark plugs.

Modified the air filter as per suggestions.

Increased the ignition timing 3 degrees to 7 BTDC.

Use 5W 30 oil.

and planning on new tires etc.

I am not sure what else to do to the motor to gain the extra 2mpg's I am looking for.

I cruise at 2,600 RPM which gives 60 mph on the speedo.

I short shift on the 5 speed tranny and do not reve over 3,000 rpm in the gears.

I seem to have one small issue with the motor which is when the engine decelerates it does not drop immediately to its idle rpm it seems to hang at approx 1200 rpm and then slowly decrease to the idle of 750 rpm.

I am still investigating this phenomena.

I am planning to purchase a 4 wire oxygen sensor to replace the one wire sensor, I read that the 4 wire sensor with built in heater gives more accurate control.

I will keep you posted as soon as I hit the magical 50 mpg.
