You think that surprises me? Those SOB's are headquartered in MY state...if Bush instigates a 'December surprise' and declares Martial Law, NC will be the next New Orleans. Remember THAT Constitution-violating fiasco? Still got BW patrols there to this very day.

Still, the state that spawned Col. Francis "Swamp Fox" Marion won't be so easy as all that on Mr. Prince and Co....

But back to cars and such. It's good to know that even Hummer owners are looking to conserve fuel-nowhere to go but up, right?

Come to think of it though-wouldn't a high clearance, multi-terrain vehicle like the Hummer be a perfect candidate for a Stirling-EV Hybrid conversion? Concentrate on the design strengths the Hummer provides-rugged, durable and multiple environment capable-reduce its maximum speed to about 60 MPH on open terrain, close up the grill since the ICE engine is gone, heavier flywheel...then apply the Stirling generator/ Electric drivetrain combo, and what do we get? An off-road, hard to kill vehicle that (with minor tweaks) could run on multiple fuels, generate emergency power for other uses and possibly be pressed into service as a Cargo hauler/ Tow vehicle/tractor. Get a lot better FE too...
