I bought and sold my first car before I ever got a drivers license, a 1982 VW Rabbit Pickup Truck, I think it gets around 32mpg, then my first car I owned while I could drive was a 1987 Ford Econoline van, put a full 300 miles on it before selling it a year later, got around 17mpg, the first car I put any number of miles on was a 1984 Honda Civic DX hatchback, averaged 42.2mpg over the entire time I drove it, was rear ended by someone going about 40mph and retired the car to the back yard.
