6.5 turbo diesel from a 90's chevy truck would make adequate torque to get decent mileage and acceleration. transmission may be an issue though.
Second thought that would require alot of fabrication on the engine mounts but a good transmission would be an oldsmobile aurora 4.0 V8 or 4.6 northstar from a caddy.
