WAI on Mitsu 3.0 V6?

I'm trying a warm air setup on my Caravan. Basically I disconnected the air inlet tube at the filter box, which puts the opening right above the exhaust x-over pipe. My mileage on this last tank dropped slightly, unfortunately it's difficult to tell with accuracy how it did since I'm:

1) using winter formula fuel
2) getting wheelspin on the slick roads

I'm gonna stay with it and see if it yields the same result on the next tank. But I was curious if anyone here has tried, or heard of, doing this mod on a Mitsubishi engine and if they respond well to this type of mod or not?
