I have one question. After I unplug the heater and start my engine, I seem to find that when I accelerate away from my driveway that I get an instant sloshing/ water trickling sound at the dashboard (heater core). When this happens, I get instant feedback from my temp. gauge that I have hot coolant, but if I just let it sit there it doesn't get warmed up for a long while.

I've come to the conclusion that by the way I've got the block heater installed, that the coolant to the heater core moves the coolant during acceleration that is heated opens up the thermostat, letting a whole lot of coolant into the engine and getting feedback from the temp gauge.

I'm also thinking that the heat from the block heater only partially opens the thermostat, so that the coolant flows to the engine core, but cools off after a while.

I'm wondering if I should get that stubborn bolt off of the engine bay and take coolant from the engine, sending it to the heater core, and then back into the engine instead.

Although these are just theories. I've also got a mechanical fan that runs all the time, so at Idle that could not be enough to move the coolant and the mechanical fan could prevent warm up as quickly.
